SUSPICIOUS PERSONS ALERT

June 17, 2015

File #2015-14028 & File #2015-14413

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking to identify two males who, on separate occasions, called out to two different children.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday June 12, 2015 an 11 year old boy was walking on Cook Avenue, just west of Laity Street, when a male in a green car called out to him.  The boy did not interact with the unknown man, and ran straight home.  The man then drove away towards Laity.

On Tuesday June 16, between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. a 9 year old girl heard an unknown male call out to her, and she too ran home.  This incident occurred in the 23500 block of 119 Avenue, near a community mailbox.

Constable Amanda Harnett said, “These two incidents do not appear to be linked, and police are looking for two different men.  Neither man approached the children, but it is unknown why they would have called out to them in the first place.

The man from last Friday is described as a white male in his 30’s.  He had a short brown beard, no moustache, and had a mark on one of his hands.  The car is a mid to late 2000 model, and is green with some tinted windows.

The man from last night (Tuesday June 16) is described as a white male between 18 and 23 years of age.  He is 5 foot 9 or 10 inches tall, has sandy blond hair, and was wearing glasses.  He was not associated to a vehicle.

Police are appealing to the men responsible for these incidents to simply call us so we can find out why these children felt threatened in their own community.”
